In “BE, AND KNOW,” David K. Pugh aims to create a visual that symbolizes the often-felt “out of body” sensation, especially when one is experiencing intense emotions. The images in this series represent his inner world as he learns to be, and know, peace.

The presence of the flowers represents his pursuit of being in the moment and aims to show that conversation between his mind and body.

“Photography is my way of understanding light — how it behaves and how it surprises. It’s the constant exploration of light and how to play with it that keeps me interested. I first fell in love with photographing nature, then over time that curiosity expanded to other subjects.”
