Opening Reception:

Gallery Front: “Daniel Brennan: A Retrospective”

For our “August Art Salon,” Cerbera Gallery will feature rare Daniel Brennan paintings from the Susan Lawrence Collection. Brennan’s paintings are known for having an almost child-like quality to them – characterized by bright vivid colors paired with whimsical figurative representation of everyday life. Though, Brennan had several exhibitions of paintings at the Lawrence Gallery in Kansas City, his work was also exhibited at the Jewish Community Center and in Texas, California, New York and Mexico. Many of Brennan’s paintings featured in our exhibition are dated from the 1960s, making them complete time capsules of the stylistic trends during this period.

Gallery Back: “Moving Pathways (Preview)” by Kory Twaddle

For the second half of our “August Art Salon”, Cerbera Gallery will be exhibiting a preview of “Moving Pathways” by local Kansas City artist, Kory Twaddle. Twaddle explores her own lived experiences. She uses her body’s interactions with space as subject matter for her biogrammatic work. Furthermore, she seeks to give physical presence to her own ethereal encounters with the external world via lived diagrams. Twaddle’s biograms are records of the lived moment, specific periods of time and particular spaces.

Twaddle received a BFA in Painting with a Minor in Art History from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma in 2001. She went on to receive her MFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Art and Theory from Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine in 2006. Twaddle is currently a Research Assistant at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art.

Cerbera Gallery will debut “Moving Pathways” in full as a solo show early 2020.
